2. Swarmers

There are a few ways to tell flying termites apart from flying ants. Both have four wings, but termite wings are uniform and ants have one pair of larger wings and one pair of smaller wings. Subterranean swarmer termites have a straight pair of antennae, while flying ants have bent antennae. In addition to seeing flying termites, if you notice multiple pairs of insect wings near your home, check to see if they are identical in size. This is a serious indication that your home or business has termites.  

3. A Scent Similar to Mold or Mildew

Because mold and mildew are known to grow in dark, moist environments much like termites, the presence of these micro-organisms are a good indicator that there may also be termites present. Since these termites use their saliva to build their tunnels and make their way through rotting wood, the scent of mold and mildew and the scent of termites can be very similar. Whether what you’re smelling is mold, mildew, or mites, it’s always a good idea to check it out.

4. Buckling Wood
